about me.
Helloo!! I’m Margaret Schmitt, a 27 year old Las Vegas based photographer with a love for music, people, and the moments that happen somewhere in between.
I first got my hands on a camera around 14 years old, photographing local ska and punk shows. What started as simply wanting to capture the music and energy around me eventually pulled me deeper into the local scene, transitioning into photographing hardcore shows and contributing to the local music blog Punks in Vegas. Where I spent about two years documenting shows and supporting local artist. From there, I decided to branch out and create my own music blog, giving me a space to continue highlighting smaller bands, sharing their work and documenting the scene through my own perspective.
From the beginning, photography has always been about more than just getting the shot. One of my biggest goals has been to give smaller and local bands a place to be seen, share what they’re creating, and hopefully help get their name in front of someone new. Supporting the local scene that gave me a place to create has always been at the heart of what I do.
Over the years, my work has grown beyond live music into portraits, fashion, editorials, and the everyday moments that catch my eye but, music photography will always feel like home. There’s something about freezing a moment in the middle of the chaos, the movement, sweat, emotion, crowd, and energy that only existed for a split second.
I want my photographs to feel like the moment felt, not just what it looked like.
Whether I’m standing in a packed room photographing a band, creating with another artist, or simply carrying my camera through everyday life, I’m always looking for something real to preserve.
Support your local scene. Support small artists. And never stop creating.
